  4. T: Everret Ruess is a guy who "was cut from the same fabric as Chris McCandless."

EX: "Also like McCandless,Ruess was undeterred by physical discomfort; at times he seemed to welcome it." (Krakouer 92)

T: i can only say one thing: WHY!!!

Y: this relates to me because i have been in the wilderness before.

hey david arnot the reason people think of these guys as psycopathic isn't because of there love for nature or anything, it's because of the fact that they love nature so much that they're willing to give up amazing lives for it. but not only for that reason it's also because they refuse to go into said wilderness prepared. Take McCandless for example: in the very first chapter Jim Gallien or whatever his name was, offered to buy McCandless some GOOD equipment, (rifle that will actually kill good game, more food, boots, machete, sleeping bag etc.) but he just refused it completely the only thing he was persuaded to take was a small lunch, and some waterproof rainboots. that's why people think that all these guys are psycopathic
