    (T) All of these quotes have a real influence on people.

    Ex I hardly accept the motto--"That government is best which governs least"

  4. (T) In the essay "Civil Disobedience" expresses his scruples (I do not to be bias) with the governmental system. (EX) "That government is best which governs not at all" is a sentence that is an example of powerful and passionate writing style that Thoreau adopted (Thoreau 3). "It has not the vitality and force of a single living man..." is another example (Thoreau 4). (T) Why don't we get to read the full document? (Y) This is so powerful.

    By the way, do we have to do the 5-paragraph essay, because I am confused.

  5. T - this packet talks a ton about Civil Disobedience and about writeing poems about nature
    Ex - "i think that we should be men first, and subjects afterward. it is not desirable to cultivate a respect for the law, so much as for the right " (Thoreau 65 )
    Y - why write poems about nature?
    T- maybe poems about nature and love are cool i've never writen about nature i'll try it some time

    (EX)"His many nature writings and records of his wanderings in Canada, Maine, and Cape Cod display the mind of keen naturlist". (Thoreau 63).
    (T) Why did Thoreau die so early?
    (Y) Maybe writing poems is a good thing to express your feelings in some way.
