Principles of Outdoor Education, Wednesday

  1. T: I learned many things again. I learned that Safety is the key point to any adventure.

    EX: The most exciting thing was seeing all your kayaking and rock climbing equipment.

    T: I don't have a question.

    Y: This relates to me because I have to think about safety when i go driving or when it is icy outside i have to be careful to walk slowly.

  2. T I learned that in sea kayaking you would use a carbon fiber paddle and when on a river you use a rubber one
    EX Mr. Macy told more stores about his trip to Alasska.
    T Do you have a preference sea kayaking to river kayaking?
    Y I have sea kayaked before.

    EX-learned how the water skirt worked.

    T-what is one way to repair a leak in a kayak?

    Y-I have been on a canoe trip before.

  4. T = I learned what types of gear are god for kayaking

    EX = I never knew about the using your body to row thing.

    T = What does it mean to belay? You never told me.

    Y = Iv'e been rafting before, I got hit in the face with the paddle.

  5. T- I learned the right gear for kayaking and how to correctly paddle. Very crucial in order to not get tired!

    EX- I really liked leading the group in the ice breaker

    T- How much does a sea kayaking trip cost?

    Y- I really want to kayak, so this helped me better understand it

    EX- Trying out the different styles of paddling with an actual paddle.

    T- How do you choose the most effective boat for kayaking?

    Y- I have done white-water rafting.

  7. T – Today i leanred that if you are going rafing you should know water first aid.
    EX – i was exited learn that it is easyer to use your whole body while rafting,rather than just your arms.
    T – Were you ever scared for your life at some point in the outdoors? How did you react?
    Y – This class lesson relates to me because i do a lot of outdoor activitys with my family.
