TEXTY
T- Tell me something about what you read
EX- Write out an EXcerpt from the book (with citation) related to the most significant or pivotal point in the reading
Example: "My father was crying. It was the first time I saw him cry. I had never thought it possible" (Wiesel 19).
T- Try to understand better by asking a question
Y- How does it relate to you? OR, if it does not relate to you; How did reading this make you FEEL?

(T) Alex tells his friends that he will be heading to San Diego for money for his alaskan trip.

(T) Why would you go to San Diego for money?
(Y) I have been to San Diego!!!!!
(T) Ronald Franz is introduced. A war veteran who's wife and child were killed by a drunk driver. (EX) "I hate to tell you this, mister, but your friend is dead" (Krakauer 60). (T) Why do bad things happen to good people? (Y) I love this book!

T why did the man who sent the letter not say who he was?

T Alex calls his friend Franz

T Why did Alex go to a friend when his friend could have easly have called his parents?

(T) Alex gets a really wierd letter, and its a very long letter indeed.

T = In this chapter we learn about the relationship of "Alex" and Ronald Franz.

T = Why does he like being a Hobo?
Y = This chapter was actually kind of touching... in a weird way.
T: i feel really really sad for Franz
