TEXTY
T- Tell me something about what you read
EX- Write out an EXcerpt from the book (with citation) related to the most significant or pivotal point in the reading
Example: "My father was crying. It was the first time I saw him cry. I had never thought it possible" (Wiesel 19).
T- Try to understand better by asking a question
Y- How does it relate to you? OR, if it does not relate to you; How did reading this make you FEEL?

(T) this part is about when the kids come together to make a sort of senate.

(Y) i have been stranded on an island.
T: this is about when everyone comes together to put down some ground rules

T: why does jack want rules?
Y: this relates to me because i have seen a conch shell before
T the kids have a meeting to set up some rules

T if there are no other people on he island then why do need an army
Y i was on a tropical island once
(T) They have their afternoon meeting and Ralph's true power starts to show. (Ex) Piggy starts to come out of his shell. (T) Why do Ralph and Jack do nothing? (Y) I love making fires.

Y = Iv'e never seen a snake beast.

T. Ralph blows the horn again to call another meeting, they set up a couple ground rules such as only the person with the conch may talk, when one of the kids mentions fires, they all begin to gather fire for a signal fire which they plan to put at the top of the mountain.

T. do you think that they'll hunt down the snake?
Y. I've had a few encounters with snakes myself
