TEXTY
T- Tell me something about what you read
EX- Write out an EXcerpt from the book (with citation) related to the most significant or pivotal point in the reading
Example: "My father was crying. It was the first time I saw him cry. I had never thought it possible" (Wiesel 19).
T- Try to understand better by asking a question
Y- How does it relate to you? OR, if it does not relate to you; How did reading this make you FEEL?

T A man got shot in the side

T who is they?
Y i have never been shot with a real gun.
(T) He was shot and almost killed, ON PAGE 2. (EX) "I couldn't breathe no matter how hard I tried" (Carey 3). (T) Nick, why do you have to bring up that you haven't been shot? It's a little creepy. (Y) I've been to Harlem.

(T) Why was he going to do a drive by?
(Y) I would never want to be in a situation like Percy was.
