TEXTY
T- Tell me something about what you read
EX- Write out an EXcerpt from the book (with citation) related to the most significant or pivotal point in the reading
Example: "My father was crying. It was the first time I saw him cry. I had never thought it possible" (Wiesel 19).
T- Try to understand better by asking a question
Y- How does it relate to you? OR, if it does not relate to you; How did reading this make you FEEL?

T Contract with god was published in 1978 and is given credit for being the first graphic novel to be widely popular.

Y I have never read this book
(T) We learn all about the "first" widely popular graphic novel A Contract With God, and the frenzy it started. (EX) "I truly believe that Spiegelman's "Maus" should be shelved next to Elie Wiesel and Primo Levi, not next to X-men" (Chip Kidd). (T) Why is this graphic novel so important yet I have not heard of it? (Y) I want to read it.

T: Why does it get the credit then? And why does the article start from another point: "...But 'graphic novels'" that part.
