TEXTY
T- Tell me something about what you read
EX- Write out an EXcerpt from the book (with citation) related to the most significant or pivotal point in the reading
Example: "My father was crying. It was the first time I saw him cry. I had never thought it possible" (Wiesel 19).
T- Try to understand better by asking a question
Y- How does it relate to you? OR, if it does not relate to you; How did reading this make you FEEL?

T: Why do they think people with A.D.H.D and A.D.D. are lazy and stupid if anything i know from experience most people with A.D.H.D. are the exact opposite of lazy?
Y: My first elementary school was really terrible

Y I have ADHD
(T) The book is introduced through a very different writing style. ADHD and ADD are explored minorly. (EX) "... this unusual learner is not stupid, niether is he bad. Indeed, he may be gifted" (Hallowell 17). (T) Why is the school system so exclusive? Why does it create a generation of hateful people? Why are kids being slowly brainwashed into hating these people? Why has nobody done anything about this until now? Why have the already semi-evolved kids gone to the point of not possibly learning to accept who we are? Why are public schools still teaching hate hidden as it is? Why do so many people not care? Why do we end up on top "despite all odds" and everyone suspects cheating because that is all we are good for? How did we let this slip through the cracks? They are we looked at the lowest of all "minorities". Why does the system deny us entry to so many options? Who am I to sit down and take this harrassment? Why us of all people? Why anyone at all? Why are we (exept for some) written out of the history books? Why has this problem not been found earlier? Why are we labeled "stupid"? Why have so many lives been ruined and no one cares? (Y) I AM OUTRAGED!
ReplyDeleteT. the book introduces us to both main characters. It talks about many of the strategies that they will talk about in later chapters. Also, it sorta rants about the P.S. educational system, fine by me.
ReplyDeleteEX. We got sick of all the different ways people tried to define us and we said "Screw it" (Mooney 20)
T. though I appreciate the ability to be at this school, but some of the of the things that go on here are crazy. That's the problem with the system of how the media changes everything. Jocks are portrayed as the awesome people everyone looks up to, but in truth they;re hated and they're full of themselves. Then there's the people that are popular that are portrayed as people that everyone likes and looks up to, but in truth no one likes them. and finally the smart kids are portrayed as nerdy. IM A GEEK, NOT A FREAKING NERD!!!!! It's disgusting what this country's youth is becoming. It's ridicules, and it's sickening. It just pisses me off that people act like this, and portray the said to be "Good" people in the school as they as portrayed, when it's that fact that most of them end up dropping out.
ok, i feel a bit better after that rant....but not much.
